From 1st of October to 26th of October 2026, 35 exclusive ceramic works by Onree will be presented throughout Jinny Street Gallery, open air art space in the shopping district Jingumae 2-chome, Shibuya.

The exhibition invites visitors to encounter ceramics not as perfectly controlled objects, but as records of touch, movement and instinct. Join the tile making workshop by Onree on October 12th as part of the exhibition

Jinny Playground

Jinny Street Gallery, a street art gallery that transforms streetlight display cases into exhibition spaces and brings art into everyday urban scenery, will present the participatory art project “Jinny Playground” from Saturday, May 30th to Monday, July 6th, 2026.

For this project, the streetlight poles scattered throughout the Jingumae 2-chome shopping district will be reimagined as extensions of a playground, where artists from Japan and abroad will create site-specific installations and exhibitions. The artworks incorporate playful interactive elements designed to make passersby stop, peek inside, touch, and engage with the pieces.

The Creators’ Club

Creators’ Club was born from a shared belief that art is for everyone.

When Altria of Owlpaca Studio met Lorenzo at the Jinny Sour exhibition, they discovered acommon vision: to make creativity playful, open, and free from rules.

Since launching in October 2024, the Club has hosted monthly workshops inspired by Jinny’s exhibitions—spaces where art lovers and curious minds gather to create without pressure or expectation, simply for the joy of making.

Especially family photographs are a tie to our personal history, an archive of who we are and where we came from. Starting Friday August 15th 2025, Jinny Street Gallery (located in Jingumae 2-Chome, Shibuya, Tokyo) will host a solo illustration exhibition by artist KITTYZILLA , titled: “Where are the cats?”

This exhibition is based on real-life stories gathered through interviews with local residents. Through Oren’s distinctive painting style and original cat characters, it attempts to portray the memories of Jingumae 2-Chome—a neighborhood undergoing rapid redevelopment. By visualizing disappearing scenery and the lives once lived there, the exhibition gently draws attention to the “hidden changes of everyday life” and prompts reflection on “the future of our communities.”

From Friday, June 20, 2025, Jinny Street Gallery—a street-side art gallery in Jingumae 2-chome—will launch a new exhibition titled “Yuasobi”, meaning playing in hot water. This special event is a collaboration with Kosugiyu Harajuku, a public bathhouse that opened last year in the new landmark shopping complex Tokyu Plaza Harajuku “Harakado”.

This exhibition invites you to rediscover the essence of traditional Japanese sento (public bath culture) through the lens of contemporary art. 33 artists, both from Japan and abroad, present works centered on the theme of “hot water,” exploring its cultural and sensory significance through various mediums including photography, illustration, installations, and 3D objects.

The city is an ever-changing landscape where ideas rise from the pavement, and creativity hums through crowded streets. It’s a place where cultures and movements meet, collide, and transform—a living canvas where stories unfold in real time.

In Japan, Shinrin-yoku—the practice of “forest bathing”—is a well-loved tradition, where one immerses themselves in the serenity of nature to heal and restore, far from the clamor of city life. With this new exhibition, “Big City Bathing” (“Daitokai-yoku”), we take this concept and reimagine the city as a space for renewal, where wandering its streets becomes a sensory journey, and the flow of people and ideas refreshes and inspires.

One Hundred Views of Edo Konbinis

On the streets of the open air Jinny Street Gallery, the new exhibition One Hundred Views of Edo Konbinis by Tokyo-based illustrator Pavel Sipkin will open on April 11, running until May 9th. Sipkin, through 40 carefully illustrated mini-scrolls, explores a hypothetical scenario where Edo-era traditions and the modern energy of Tokyo coexist in a dynamic rhythm. During the period of the exhibition visitors can also purchase the Jinny Lemon Sour, the gallery’s signature drink, featuring a limited edition label designed by Sipkin himself, at a few local izakayas.

Michibiki Vol. 2

The Life of Things

Jinny Street Gallery will hold its new exhibition, The Life of Things, by Tokyo-based artist Yugo Isaji. Most of the desires fulfilled by urban life, such as eating, shopping, or watching movies, are activities that take place indoors. However, even so, on early Sunday mornings, you can find young people who enjoyed the night sleeping comfortably on the streets in front of train stations. During weekday mornings or in smoking areas, people gather to smoke before work or during breaks. You can also see young people and tourists storing their luggage in street lockers at the entrance to downtown areas or parks, eager to enjoy clubs, sightseeing, or shopping. If you move to an office district, you can witness an eerie sight of crows and kite birds flying around, targeting discarded raw meat from nearby meat markets. In Tokyo, it’s not uncommon for functions and desires that should be confined within buildings to spill over into the outdoors.

We are proud to present Dutch artist Maan Limburg’s unique photo exhibition Without Us, a selection of works from her series The Lost World.

Exhibition Statement

For many city dwellers, Japan is a country of high buildings, an up-tempo lifestyle, with a cute countryside that feels like an afterthought. However, for Dutch artist Maan Limburg, the country stands for desolation and empty houses. Limburg started photographing the places she encountered while traveling the countryside in 2018 and 2019. She found an incredible number of abandoned houses, factories, hotels, and restaurants - all full of memories of people long gone. Her images of these locations will be shown in the exhibition Without Us, which features selected works of her project The Lost World.

EXHIBITION & ARTISTS STATEMENT

I live around the block from Kyoto’s Imperial Palace grounds, a mammoth landscaped wooded area with grassy lawns, tiny hillocks, a gentle stream, teahouses, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and thousands of trees: maple, sakura, gingko, a plethora of conifers. When the pandemic began I took leisurely walks in the grounds, the better to settle my melancholic spirit. Having long appreciated the aesthetic qualities of the trees I daily encountered, I became aware of their personalities as well. Some trees were really funny while some assumed an attitude of momentousness; others had an aura of gentleness, a few appeared humbled by man’s capricious whims. Because of our climate-control indoor living, we mostly take the existence of trees for granted– their quietude can lead us to overlook their aliveness.

Precious Waste

Precious Waste is a mixed-media exhibition that proposes jewelry pieces, photography, and recycled materials to guide the passengers through a transformation from trashed objects into artistic creations in a journey of 28 streetlamps at the Jinny Street Gallery.

The itinerant exhibition shows a retrospective of the ByLUDO design collections. Alongside artistic creations, viewers will see their original, unprocessed states.

Throughout her research, Ludo has investigated ways to recycle and reimagine all the components of keyboards as well as other e-waste. The design inspiration for the creation of the ByLUDO artistic pieces comes from the study of the material properties and their playful reconfiguration into wearable pieces.

Altars

Altars: From People to People is a site-specific exhibition prepared by multimedia artist Sante Visioni. Utilizing the unique setup offered by Jinny Gallery, the artist decided to transform each available space of the exhibition into an altar-like display. Artist Statement:

I have a great affection for that fragment of a memory.

That scene that I framed inside a photograph, that instantly becomes part of me.

The memory of a person who saw my photography, it becomes part of that person.

The instant a photograph comes to life, its scene belongs to the past.

The instant I look at a photograph, that belongs to the world.

It becomes something, a common memory between me and who else shared it with me.

Fire & Rain

An expression of ideas. We often live multiple lives. Multiple ideas and thoughts sharing one space, mixing with each other but yet still separate.

Fire: Film photography. An unpredictable element in this medium is the exposure to light leaks. The 1st shot of every roll has film burn. The burn will act differently each time. Hence the beauty in it.

This film burn is also seen as a damaged frame. Using the idea and art of Kintsugi, I “repair” the “damaged” frame with gold.

“Streets in Bits” is a group exhibition of nine street photographers from Tokyo, Nagano, and Osaka.

“Streets in Bits” will present the work of 9 street photographers from Tokyo, Nagano, and Osaka to show three to four pieces each from their work. Each piece is made up of three different street photographs. These three images are like small “bits” from the urban panorama photographers captured through their sensibility and perspective. Together they express the individuality of each one of the exhibiting artists.

Sidewalks are suitable for walkers. They are very crowded places. The footprints quickly vanish without leaving any trace. The flaneur traces their paths elsewhere. They wander between the narrow streets and the city’s buildings; immersed in tranquility, he walks in silence. Zig-zagging through the people, searching for a glimpse of light in urban chaos. Then, stepping off the sidewalk, looking for a story to tell.
